Book Talk Feb 2024 This is from my BIO, but if you want to hear what I actually have to say - skip this passage: Michael Hunter McVay is a retired art instructor, a world-class miniaturist, and the author of Michael, Little Boy Black & Blue: Surviving the Effects of a Poisonous Child Abuser Trilogy. As well as his Non-fiction memoir describing extreme child abuse, he has published other genres of books and poems. Michael is a singer, makeup artist and performer. He has acted in a few movies, stage productions, pride events and has played an extra in a few off-beat films. A professionally trained art teacher, Michael illustrated several books and an award-winning book cover for the Mississippi Community College Creative Writing Association. As well as an artist, Michael has written short stories and plays for all ages. He taught school as an art teacher and as an elementary school teacher until retiring after the tragic death of his beloved mother on his birthday. When not writing, he spends time on his collections and restoring dolls. His memoir, Michael, Little Boy Black & Blue: Surviving the Effects of a Poisonous Child Abuser, was written as an account of the trials and tribulations of his excessively abusive and violent childhood. Adult survivors of child abuse typically develop serious health conditions later in their lives. Michael suffers from Meniere's Disease, complex PTSD, and a host of other conditions as a result of the decades of abuse he endured throughout his life. Michael lost his biological father at a young age to suicide. He and his mother, both, attempted suicide during their years spent with a maniacal psychotic abuser, his stepfather.
